Andrew Toole Warms Up For His Vacation With £53K IPT Glasgow Win

Table Of Contents
It is common practice for holidaymakers to treat themselves to some expensive aftershave or a bottle of plonk from the Duty-Free section when they're going on vacation. Still, not many help themselves to £53,000 and a trophy 24 hours before jetting off.
According to the Irish Poker Tour's live updates team, Andrew Toole asked the Irish Poker Tour team to take his trophy back to Ireland with them because he was flying to Thailand a few hours after taking down the £400 IPT Glasgow Main Event. Toole heads on holiday £53,000 richer than he initially planned after outlasting 823 opponents.

The Main Event boasted a £200,000 guarantee, but the 824-strong crowd ensured that figure was obliterated. The top 83 finishers shared a slice of a £280,820 prize pool. Colin Gillion, Andrew Hedley, Glen Gaines, Kully Sidhu, and Michael Kane saw a return on their £400 investment but fell before the nine-handed final table.
David Owens, the sole Englishman at the final table, bowed out in ninth for a career-best £6,650. The next three eliminated players, Paul Martin, Richard Doonan, and Shi Dong, also banked career-best prizes ranging from £8,150 to £12,300.
The final four players breathed a sigh of relief when Dean Hutchison saw his latest deep run in a fifth-place finish. Hutchison, as you may recall, finished sixth in the 2023 WSOP Main Event and knows his way around a poker table.
Andrew Hawksby, the third-place finisher in the 2024 GUKPT Edinburgh Main Event, crashed out in fourth for £19,500 before Patrick Murphy's journey ended in a third-place finish worth £26,000.
Heads-up pitted Cork's Toole against Ben Mccann in a battle for the lion's share of the prize pool. With Toole due to fly to sunnier climes and Mccann due into work at 9:00 a.m., the heads-up duo struck a deal that locked in £43,000 for Mccann and £53,000 for Toole.
